CARES Responds to COVID-19 Pandemic

Official communications regarding the University of Missouri response to COVID-19 can be found at

As many aspects of normal life grind to a halt with closings and cancellations to slow the spread of COVID-19, CARES will continue to provide online services, including day-to-day technical support for all of our projects, sites, and Hubs.  CARES has already taken several measures to ensure continued support for our projects.  These steps include:

  • CARES has ensured that staff are aware of COVID-19 information resources, practices to prevent spread of the disease (self-quarantine, social distancing) and steps to take if they suspect they have been infected – any updates in policy or best practices are communicated immediately to staff.
  • CARES staff are successfully and securely working from home while travel is restricted to meet ongoing project commitments, syncing via virtual meeting platforms and common project management software.
  • CARES has always provided cross training, and our team has enough staff redundancy staff to address issues should remote work, family responsibilities, or illness cause interruptions. If interruptions should occur beyond a manageable scope, we will communicate early and appropriately about any anticipated delays. We ask for your understanding as we continue to support our projects during this time.
  • The University infrastructure supporting all projects, including networking, server housing, backup power, and physical security, will continue to function as normal.

While the University of Missouri where we are located is officially closed, CARES is still fully functional as all our team members are able to work from home. We will continue to respond to project needs as usual and are working on creating COVID-19 related maps and other data resources. While we are working remotely to comply with local, state, and national guidelines, CARES is committed to maintaining quality information, tools, and resources as well as support for our partners during these challenging times. We ask for your patience and urge everyone to stay home as much as possible.
